Budapest Zoo

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

The Budapest zoo is in a great location next to the famous restaurant – Gundel so it is worth visiting both at once. The zoo has all of the animals you would expect in a typical zoo and makes a change from all of the buildings in the city. It also has botanical gardens and so there is plenty to look at as well as the animals and the art-deco style entrance. It is conveniently located centrally to other attractions including the museums, park and thermal baths and so is easy to get to using public transport should you need it.

Colosseum, Rome

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

If you are travelling to Rome then you have to see the Colosseum. It is an amazing structure and it is worth travelling outside of the city at night to see it all lit up and get some great holiday snaps. Visiting it does mean fighting through the crowds and coping with the heat but it is well worth taking a look inside this very historical building. You cannot visit Rome without at least seeing the outside, let alone the inside of this building which is probably one of the most famous in the city and most people will have heard of it.

Central Station, Amsterdam

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

If you have the pleasure of arriving in Amsterdam by train then you will get to see the Centraal Station. It is a very attractive brick building which has been recently restored to its original style. It is amazing to think that it is built on thousands on wooden piles because of the wet land all around it unyet it has been there since 1889. The great thing is that it is free to see and it is highly likely that you will be passing through it anyway so there is no extra travelling required to get there to see it.

Casa Museu Gaudi, Barcelona

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Barcelona is very famous for the various Gaudi works in it. It is well worth visiting the Casa Museu Gaudi which is the house where he spent a lot of his life and was designed by his collegue. Gaudi himself designed the pergola in the garden as well as some of the furnishings with one of his students and so these are of particular interest. It is located in Parc Guell which displays some of Gaudis masterpieces as well as some of his main collaborators so is great to visit both of them at once if you enjoy looking at the works of this great artist.
